1.4.11 Optimized interior security lighting


The interior security lighting system can be optimized:

  • reducing the illuminance performance (and consequently wattage power) to have a maximum of 54 lux
  • avoiding the use of security light during the day
  • using emergency lights with low capacity backup batteries
  • replacing emergency exit lights by luminous tritium power free exit signs

  • Increase the lifespan of lamps

  • Easy application

  • Tritium lights are powered-free and do not require: external power sources, electrical connection or ambient lighting to function


  • If motion and photo sensors are installed in combination with security lights, energy savings will be more relevant

Economic assessment

Initial investment: low. The cost includes the substitution of lamps when necessary as well as a timer control to program the on/off of the lights.
